IF I WERE SATAN
INTRODUCTION:
1. Every war has a good and bad side: So does the war between good & evil.
2. The enemy in this war is one called Satan.
3. He is a very real enemy and a very active one (1Peter 5:8)
4 He may be working on you right now (1Cor.10:12; 9:27).
5. He wants Chrsitians more than anyone else.
6. Only the Lord can deliver us from his schemes At my first defense no one stood with
me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them. 17 But the Lord stood
with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through
me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the
lion. 18 And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His
heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen! (2Tim.4:16-18).
7. The only way Satan can separate us from God, is if we allow him to do so Yet in all
these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am
persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor
things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created
thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.(Rom.8:37ff)
8. The way to win any war is to know as much as you possibly can about the enemy,
especially the commander of the enemy army. (Patton's strategy).
9. In this lesson we are going to, as much as is possible, get into the head of the one
called Satan; try to see things from his standpoint:
I. IF I WERE SATAN HERE IS HOW I WOULD SET OUT TO WIN THE
WORLD:
A. I would make people think religion was foolish (Rom.2:24) For "The name of God is
blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you," as it is written.
B. I would offer a wide variety of religious error (John 14:6)Jesus said to him, "I am the
way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
C. I would confuse people as to what was important (Matt.6:33; Lk.6:38) "Give, and it
will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running
over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be
measured back to you."
D. I would distort human sexuality (Gen.1:26-28; 2:1-8).
E. I would encourage people to wait to obey the gospel (James 4:17).
F. I would convince them that just doing more good than bad was enough (Acts10:1;
11:14)
G. I would glorify human wisdom (1Cor.1:18-31)
H. I would make people too busy or too lazy to obey the gospel (Matt.13:22;
2Thess.3:6-11).
I. I would convince the world that I did not exist:
II. IF I WERE SATAN I WOULD ATTEMPT TO DESTROY THIS
CONGREGATION:
A. By dividing over opinions (Rom.14:1-12)
B. By Letting a small percentage of the people do most of the work (Heb.10:24-25).
C. By encouraging attacks on the leaders (1Pet.5:1-4; Heb.13:7,17).
D. By changing the role of parents (Eph.6:4).
E. By keeping the gospel from being spread in this community (Matt.28:18-20).
F. By weakening the preaching and the teaching (2Tim.4:1-4).
G. By removing vision, thus resulting in discouragement (Eph.3:20).
H. By Encouraging the members and former members to speak badly about the church
in the community.
CONCLUSION:
1. Satan is alive and out to win souls.
2. Knowing his tactics helps to avoid falling victim to them.
3. Being faithful in Jesus is the only way to overcome.
4. If I were Satan I would convince you that this invitation didn't apply to you personally.
5. I would persuade you to continue on in your sins, and ignore one more invitation.
6. Please break the hold that Satan has on you today.
