AN OLD FASHIONED CONVERSION

TEXT: Psalm 40:1-5
INTRODUCTION:
1. Psalm 40 is another beautiful writing about the matter of forgiveness.
2. In the first few verses we see two things: “What David did” and “What God did.”

I. WHAT DAVID DID! V. 1
A. David has come under conviction of his sin.
1. If this was a particular sin, we are not sure about it.
2. Nathan had brought him to conviction in the matter of Bathsheba.
3. “Be sure your sin will find you out.”
B. But what happens when we desire to come back from sin?
1.God has a part.
2. Man has some responsibility to share.
3. Psalm 40 is about how God sustains us.
II. WHAT GOD DID! V. 1-3
A. “He inclined to me.” V. 1
B. “He brought me up out of the pit of destruction.” V. 2
C. “He brought me up…out of the miry clay!” V. 2
D. “He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.” V. 2
E. “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.” V.3
III. THE RESULTS: v. 3
A. When we are in a right relationship with God then the world is going to know it. “Many will
see and fear!”
B. “Many will…trust in the Lord!” V. 3

CONCLUSION: 27 Books in the N.T. 4 tell us how Jesus lived. 1 Tells us how to become a Christian; 21 tell us how to live as Christians. God has done and continues to do His part. What about you?!
